Books

Grandma Luke sent this book to the girls for Christmas & it is the cutest book ever! The girls & I LOVE it. They each like to read the peach crayon page because he's hiding in the box naked. They think that is so funny. Lexi doesn't know how to read yet but she has memorized parts of the story & likes to pretend she's reading. I'm going to start giving this book as gifts.

The book, No David, is a fun one for the girls too (it's such a simple book, but they love it). Lexi has it memorized too & she even adds her own words to certain parts. It's cute.  Most of the time she says what's actually written (from memory) but when she ad libs it's cute :) I love her imagination.

None of these books were around when I was little, including these Pout Pout Fish books. I really like books that rhyme & these Pout Pout Fish books are fun. Addy knows how to read this one now. She usually doesn't even try reading a book if the words are small & there are lots of words-I think she just gets overwhelmed. But she finally tried this one & did really well.

Steve and I got to go to a Jerry Seinfeld performance last night in Salt Lake.  We had never been to anything like that before and it was so much fun!  Steve has been a Seinfeld fan for a long time.  I have come to like him more and more, as Steve shows me more and more of him.  He was really funny last night.  Laughter is the BEST medicine!  Seeing him live has been on Steve's bucket list.  I'm so glad we got to go.  I keep wishing that we could "watch" his performance again from last night, so we can laugh some more.

We've had this picture in this frame since Addy was a baby.  For awhile it was kept on my dresser.  One day, when Addison got a mind of her own, she took it to her room and put it on her dresser.  Every once in awhile I'll miss it and bring it back to my dresser.  Then sometime later she'll take it back lol.  Tonight as I was putting her to bed I saw it on her nightstand again.  I LOVE HER!  We have a friendly "tug of war" going on with this one and I love it :)

Almost every time I sing or the girls sing "Families Can Be Together Forever" Addison gets nostalgic for the last place we lived, in Lehi.  For some reason that song brings her back to the townhome we lived in before moving to Herriman and she gets sad.  I sang that song when we lived there but I sang lots of other songs too.  I don't know why that one triggers the nostalgia.  When she hears the song she will say she wishes we could go back and she starts to cry.  She has said before too that she remembers me singing that song to Lexi when she was a baby :)

The girls love the movie Inside Out.  We watched it again tonight.  So when Addison started crying about wanting to go back to our "old house" I asked her if "Sadness" was touching that memory and she giggled.  I told "Sadness" to go away (she giggled) and I said "There's Joy".  And she closed her eyes smiling :)  Funny how I was able to apply that movie so well tonight, haha.

We took the girls ice skating for their first time & Steve's first time!! I can't believe he's never been ice skating before! I guess that's what happens (or doesn't happen) when you grow up in Mesa, AZ.

The day before we went ice skating we told the girls we would be going. As Steve was putting Lexi to bed he said "Tomorrow we might go ice skating" just to remind her. He said "might" just in case it didn't work out for some reason. You never know when someone will wake up sick or you get to the rink & maybe they don't have ice skates to rent, etc. Lexi corrected him and said "We wiw (will) go ice skating, not might!" She is a smart cookie!
Anyways it was way harder than I remember and Steve said it was easier than he thought it would be haha. The skates hurt my feet, plus I had a 40 pound weight (Lexi) to hold up a lot of the time.
The girls LOVED ice skating. I kind of expected them to not last as long as they did. They held onto the wall pretty much the whole time. Lexi would stop often to rest next to the wall. Addy did great & didn't give up when she fell. I was impressed with both girls.
