Our little extrovert

Steve and I have determined that Addison is an extrovert.  She loves, loves, loves to be around people.  She loves when company comes over and she loves being at the store, especially when the cashier pays attention to her.  She has no problem walking up to someone at the store to see what they are looking at.  If they are looking at something at her height, she will get up right in their face and start talking to them about what they are looking at.  Last week Steve and I were at the shoe store and Addy was walking around.  Steve said she walked right up to a lady who was kneeling down looking at shoes and got right in her face to look at the shoes too.  The lady told her she was friendly.
Today we had a play date scheduled with my friend Erica and her son Austin, and I made the mistake of telling Addison several hours ahead of time that they would be coming over later because all I heard for the next several hours until they came was "I want to see Erica, I want to see Austin", over and over again, lol.  After the play date was over and they left Addy took a nap.  The first thing I heard her say when she woke up from her nap was "I want to see Erica, I want to see Austin".  In case you don't know, extroverts get their energy from other people, by being around other people, whereas introverts (Steve and I) recharge their energy by being alone or sitting quietly.  Addison thrives off of people.  She NEEDS people around her all the time.  She is always talking my ear off, which is no problem.  I like that she's like that.  I just find it very interesting that I can already tell this characteristic about her.  And it's amusing.  This girl is going to wear her introverted parents out! LOL.  She's going to be a social butterfly.

Addison slept in until 8:15 this morning.  It was so nice - she has never slept in that late.  The first thing she said to me when I went to get her out of her crib was "Daddy work?"  I told her that it was Saturday so he didn't have to go to work today.  Then she said "Church?"  I told her that was tomorrow, on Sunday, and that today was a play day!  Then she repeated "play day".  It was so cute that she was trying to figure out what day it was.  I try to be specific with her so she will learn.  Sometimes I'm surprised by how much she seems to know and understand.

Expecting

I'm pregnant with #2!  I'm due June 1.  We are excited for Addison to have a sibling.  My sister, Beth, who lives 15 minutes away from us is also pregnant and is due a week before me.  My mom who is a homebirth midwife in Colorado Springs is going to come out to be at both births.  Beth has had 4 homebirths and is planning her 5th to be a homebirth also.  I'm going to try a homebirth again also.  Hopefully I won't have another 48 hour labor.  Beth and I are going to the same midwife here in UT that Beth has used for all of her children - we carpool and have our prenatal appointments together.  It's so fun.

Once a week I babysit my neighbor's 2 month old daughter just for a couple of hours and it's getting me so excited for another baby.  I love how newborns fall asleep in your arms :)

Here are some pictures over the last month.

We're on the train at the zoo.

Relaxing

First haircut.  I just trimmed her hair in the back because it was growing a lot faster than the sides

Grandma and Grandpa Luke came for a visit over conference weekend.  Addison called them "Mama and Papa Guke".  Then she just started calling them "Guke".  When one of them would leave the room she would put her hands in the "i don't know" shrug and say "Guke?" meaning "Where did Guke go?"

Playing with her new purse that they got her.

Reading the books Grandma and Grandpa got her.  Addy LOVES to read.

Puppy videos

One night when Steve was trying to put Addison to bed she was crying and uncooperative so he pulled out his phone and played some videos he found on the internet that had dogs in them.  That did the trick - Addison calmed down and he was then able to put her to bed with no crying!  From then on, every time Addy sees his phone she says "puppy yose" (for puppy videos).  She says it all the time now.  Right before sacrament meeting started one Sunday a guy sat down behind us and I heard Addison say "puppy yose".  I looked behind me at what she was looking at and I saw the guy putting away his phone that looked like Steve's phone.  :)  She LOVES dogs!

On Labor Day we took Addison to a splash park again.  Steve doesn't get to do that very often so we decided to go.  Addy is ready to go.

It wasn't the warmest day so there was nobody there when we got there.

After the splash park we went to get a philly cheesesteak so Steve could compare it to the real thing when he goes to Philadelphia next week on a business trip.  (no pictures were taken of our cheesesteaks).

When I try to take pictures of Addison she rarely stays still.  She always wants to look at the picture taken on the camera so she's usually running after me.  So I have to run far away from her, get in position, and by the time I take it she's practically at my side again :)  She doesn't know the concept of posing for a picture yet.

One of the few pictures taken where she is standing still!

When Addy first starting eating solid foods I tried giving her a pb&j sandwich.  I think one time she ate it and then after that she wouldn't eat it.  So I stopped making them for her, a little disappointed that she was that picky (and afraid that her tastes might be high-maintenance).  I grew up eating pb&j very often in my school lunches.  I didn't want Addison to be so picky she wouldn't eat it.  So today I made a pb&j sandwich for myself and I didn't make anything for her because I wanted to see if she would eat part of my sandwich (she usually wants to at least try whatever Steve or I are eating).  And she ate it with me!  Here we are eating lunch on the floor today :)  She ate so much I had to make another whole sandwich which we both ate as well.  So she probably ate a whole pb&j sandwich herself.  We'll have to see if this was just a fluke.  Stay-tuned......

B-b-b-b-goggle

Addison calls a bottle a goggle, but she can say 'baby' with a 'b'.  So today I was saying "b-b-b-b-bottle" so she could hear the 'b' sound and she would say "b-b-b-goggle".  We laughed.  She also says 'deet' for 'read' so I would say "r-r-r-read" and she would say "r-r-r-deet" :)  I got it on video below

Potty training

Addison asks to go to the pool almost every day now since we've been to the pool a couple times this summer.  I was putting together her potty seat this morning and she kept referring to it as a pool.  She climbed into it and said "pu-ah" :)

Coggie (broccoli)

I gave Addison broccoli casserole (Steve's fav) for lunch today and she picked out all the broccoli and ate that first!  This is the first time she's eaten broccoli.  She has refused to eat it in the past.  So we're making progress!  She even asked for more after all the broccoli on her plate was gone.  So of course I dug out more broccoli out of the casserole in the pan to give her more.  She doesn't eat very many vegetables so I took advantage of this opportunity.

Nursery! Yay!

Today was Addison's first day of nursery.  I teach the 7 year olds in primary with another sister since Steve just got a different calling.  My classroom is next door to the nursery (there are two separate nurseries in our ward and I heard today that they are probably going to have to make a 3rd nursery since there are so many children!).  Steve took Addy to nursery and stayed with her for awhile.  He left when she seemed to be enjoying herself.  Since I was in the room next door I could hear a bunch of babies crying at one point, including Addison.  Luckily the sister I teach with was teaching the lesson so I was able to go into nursery and stay with Addy.  She did well when I stayed with her so I stayed for the last hour and 20 minutes of church.  When I first walked into nursery there were like 5 babies crying out of the 12 kids in there, and only 2 leaders!  One leader was holding two crying babies on her hips, one of which was Addison.  Whew! I bet those leaders are exhausted after church.  When I served in the primary in Detroit there were only 2 kids in the entire primary that first Sunday I was in there.  Gradually we got a few more kids, but sometimes I was doing everything: singing time, the lesson, and sharing time.  I was always exhausted after church :)

Addy anxious to get to "chuch", but was throwing a fit right before this because she didn't want to get her dress on.  You can probably see tears on her cheeks :)

Steve left this morning for church a couple of hours early because he had a meeting he had to go to.  When Addison saw him leaving for church she kept saying "chuch, chuch" (she doesn't say "R's" very well).  She wanted to go with him.  For the next two hours she whined and cried and kept saying "chuch, chuch".  She wanted to go to church!  Ugh, I'll admit, it got old fast.  So we ended up at church 20 minutes early because I couldn't handle one more minute of her whining :)  We're usually late for church.  When I got out her dress for church she fought and cried while I tried to put it on her.  I guess she doesn't understand that we have to wear dresses to church.

Not again

Steve just called from work.  He said he just got a call from the property manager for the townhome we live in.  She said the owner of this place just informed her that he's trying to sell the townhome and he thinks he has a buyer and that we might be kicked out AGAIN!!!!  She said she had no idea he was doing this because we specifically asked her before we moved in if the owner would be selling anytime soon.  This is frustrating and unbelievable to say the least.  We really need your prayers.  Nothing is decided yet so please pray that we'll be able to stay here.

Random pictures

The other day Steve got to take a lunch break for once so Addy and I picked him up and we went to the park for a picnic.  It was "casual Friday" at work so that's why Steve is wearing jeans.

Hanging out with Doug

Cousin's new dog.  Addy loves him

Nap time

Addy loves music.  I wonder if me being the choir pianist at church while I was pregnant with her has anything to do with that?  Anyone know?
